We are completely dedicated to working throughout the construction industry and design fraternity to promote CDM best practice. CDM Co-ordination

CDM 2007 introduced the role of the CDM Co-ordinator as the project client’s key advisor on matters health and safety. With a significant increase in the number of statutory health and safety duties placed on the client during a construction project, the assistance of a competent CDM advisor (or indeed team of advisors) cannot be undervalued.

The Total CDM Solutions approach to the CDM-C service is to fully integrate management of health and safety in to the holistic project programme from the earliest design stages. Our work with design teams on a project is also an area where we take great pride. Designers have the opportunity to influence and sometimes greatly reduce the risk profile through design choices. Total CDM will run CDM workshops with the design team and assess the team’s health and safety contributions and seek opportunities to apply the principles of prevention.

Training

CDM 2007 has placed a great emphasis on ‘competence’. Each design practice and individual designers, for example, must be able to understand and effectively implement their duties under CDM.

Total CDM Solutions deliver the only CDM course specifically designed to demystify CDM and the only course approved by RIBA CPD as core curriculum material. Our courses are bespoke in that we integrate in house health and safety procedures into our course as well as examine company live projects in the workshop as part of the course with the outcome being real design risk management contributions. As well as running this course in house for design practices we also run nationwide road shows with our RIBA approved core curriculum material. Following the workshop continuous assessment of designers is achieved by regular competence assessments.

Management Systems

An effective and appropriate CDM response on each project requires a flexible CDM management approach that is ideally integrated into any duty holder existing project management system. For example, why not integrate the architect’s CDM duties in to the RIBA project stages. If CDM 2007 is to succeed and become an inclusive element of a client’s, designer’s and contractor’s project process then an effective CDM management arrangements are necessary.

Total CDM Solutions also provide the role of CDM advisors to companies and organisations who appreciate and understand their legal duty to provide health and safety assistance.
